A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:
- On January 3, the 209 Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said that 286 Taliban fighters were killed and 219 more wounded in operations in Faryab;
- On January 3, an IED explosion erupted in Kabul city. No casualties were reported;
- On January 2, a grenade attack took place in Jalalabad city. No casualties were reported;
- On January 2, clashes between Taliban and army forces were reported in the Arghandab area;
- On January 2, three Afghan army personell were injured in a mine explosion in the Aino Mino area.
