Militants Obstruct Aid Delivery in Syria

According to Russia’s envoy to the UN office and other international organizations in Geneva, militant groups obstruct the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Syrian population affected by the conflict.

“And we insistently demand from our partners in the task force to put pressure on these groups so that they provide a free access to people in need in these regions, and besides so that they finally stop mortar shelling of these settlements in violation of the ceasefire regime,” TASS cites Alexey Borodavkin.

The Russian diplomat noted that aid should not be getting into the hands of terrorists.

“Our partners in the task force should get it clear that feeding and providing treatment to terrorists is not among the tasks of UN humanitarian agencies, and we are not going to assist in such kind of ‘humanitarian assistance’,” he said.
