The Mi-8 is a medium transport helicopter desinged by the USSR. It’s now produced by Russia. The Mi-17 is a miltiary version of the helicopter developed from the Mi-8 airframe. In the Russian service, it’s known as the Mi-8M.

      I know that British pilots training Yanks to fly these UN made aircraft, consider the Blackhawks to be inferior to the Chinook for real combat durability, and that the US pilots are ‘dangerously lax’ regarding procedures.

        Don’t get me started on the NH-90. Saw a doco on the German army and they have to weigh their soldiers before they get on board. And then their boots damaged the airframe.
