A large rally hosted by Al-Qaeda held in Yemen

It is reported by a US think tank that a media group run by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has released dozens of new images from the city of Mukallah, the capital of Yemen’s eastern province of Hadramout.

Mukallah city was captured by Ansar al Sharia- an AQAP affiliate, in April 2015.

According to the report, on Jan. 23, Al Ather “news” agency started to publish high-quality images of Ansar al Sharia’s supposed good works.

Al Ather published several images from the event in Mukallah. Two of the photos show Khalid al Batarfi, an A large rally hosted by Al-Qaeda held in Yemenal Qaeda veteran freed from a Yemeni jail last year, delivering a talk on a widescreen. The words “O Aqsa, We Are Coming,” a reference to Jerusalem, can be seen on the al Qaeda banner on the main stage.

Similar types of public events have been held in Libya, Syria and elsewhere, since Al-Qaeda’s goal is to infiltrate its radical ideology in to the Sunni Muslim population. It uses public events such as the one in Mukallah to convince a new generation of believers that it represents them and Islam.  Al Qaeda’s regional branches focus most of their efforts on waging insurgencies throughout Africa and the Middle East.

However, there are allegations that several GCC countries with western green signal have been funding and supporting terrorism in some Middle East countries to take over indirect control by installing a pro-GCC government.
