Late on September 6, warplanes of the Israeli Air Force (IAF) carried out a series of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli military said on Twitter that its warplanes targeted several military positions within the Palestinian region in response to the recent drone attack.
“An armed drone launched from Gaza dropped an explosive on an IDF vehicle earlier today … In response, we just struck a number of Hamas targets, including offensive naval equipment and 2 military compounds in Gaza,” the Israeli military said, holding the Hamas Movement responsible for the incident.
Palestinian sources confirmed that several positions in the northern, southern and western parts of Gaza were struck. No one was reportedly killed or injured.
Hamas and the Islamic Jihad Movement are yet to response to the Israeli airstrikes in a sign of possible efforts to de-escalate the situation.
A day earlier, Israeli warplanes and artillery struck several positions inside Gaza following the launch of five rockets from the Palestinian region.
