At night, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) carried out another attack in Syria. Israeli missiles targeted Damascus International Airport and its outskirts.
The attack took place at about 2 am local time and was carried out from the direction of Lake Tiberias in Israel. As a result of the strikes, two servicemen of the Syrian Arab Army were killed and two others were wounded.
The damage to the facilities briefly put the airport out of service. The transport ministry said in an online statement that workers had removed debris from the strikes and that flights would resume by 9 a.m.
According to unconfirmed reports, the strikes hit an outpost near the airport of Iran’s Quds Force and militias it backs.
On January 2, Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli aggressions. In his weekly press briefing, Spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Nasser Kanaani, called on the international community and international organizations to exert pressure on Israel to stop its aggressions on Syria and to respect its sovereignty.
All of Israel’s recent airstrikes on Syria were reportedly meant to stop Iranian weapons shipments meant for Hezbollah in Lebanon. Western and regional sources claim Tehran has adopted civilian air transportation as a more reliable means of ferrying military equipment to its forces and to allied fighters in Syria, following Israeli disruption of ground supply.
Nevertheless, many of Israeli strikes result in Syrian human or material losses only. This raises some serious questions about the real motives behind these attacks.
Earlier in October 2022, Israeli officials claimed that the Israeli attacks on Syria have already destroyed about 90% of Iran’s military infrastructure in the country.
When does the Russian Federation defend it’s honor in Syria by stating that an attack on Syria is an attack on the Russian Federation?… Obviously past tense when you consider that NATO is and has been attacking Russia inside of it’s borders since the 90s in Chechnya… and for the past 8 years in the Eastern Donbas!…
