On August 12, ISIS’ news agency, Amaq, shared photos of two recent attacks on Iraqi troops in the western province of al-Anbar.
In the first attack, ISIS terrorists blew up a booby-trapped motorcycle next to a gathering of Iraqi troops near the town of Kubaysah on July 27. Two service members were killed and another was injured, according to the terrorist group’s claims.
The second attack also took place near Kubaysah. ISIS terrorists targeted a vehicle of Iraqi forces with an improvised explosive device on July 28. Two soldiers were reportedly killed and another was injured. The photos confirm that the vehicle, a Humvee, was completely destroyed.
Kubaysah which is surrounded by the desert is located 20 km away from the city of Hit and 60 km away from the city of Ramadi. ISIS cells are active around the town.
Iraqi government forces have launched a number of security operations in al-Anbar in the last few months. However, ISIS terrorists are still present there especially in the province’s desert, their historical stronghold in the country.
