The Syrian army, the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Hezbollah have repelled another ISIS attack on the key Tyas Airbase in the Syrian province of Homs.
ISIS attempted to hit the airbase with a car bomb and to storm the area with its infantry units. Government forces were able to destroy the car bomb and to repell the attack.
According to local sources, ISIS lost up to 30 fighters in this offensive attempt. The total terrorist grouping involved in offensive operations against pro-government forces in Homs province is estimated as about 4,000 fighters.
However, reports appear that ISIS terrorists were able to seize some points northwest and south of the airbase, cutting of pro-government units in the airbase from their allies in the rest of the province. SouthFront is going to release a map and review of this development soon.
