ISIS terrorists have ambushed a column of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) Tiger Forces near Al-Kashma south of the city of al-Mayadin in the province of Deir Ezzor. According to the photos released by the ISIS-linked media outlet Amaq, ISIS members killed about 10 Syria soldiers and destroyed an alleged T-90 battle tank.

The Tiger Forces are now developing momentum towards al-Bukamal from the al-Mayadin direction. However, they have been not able to reach this strategic city yet.

Meanwhile, the SAA, Hezbollah and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have reached al-Bukamal from southwestern direction and are now storming it.

        US warplanes have made series of sustained strikes against the Syrian Army and NDF forces inside Syria, directly and very heavily at Deir Ezzore in 2016 and Al Tanf in 2017. Likewise a US warplane shot down a SyAAF warplane with air ti air missile over Dier Ezzoe inside Syria in 2017. Under any reading of the UN Charter and UN International Laws these are standing illegal acts of direct war against the Syrian armed forces and state. All of this has been reported in your own MSM if you had even bothered to read it.

          A funny version is like when Damaskus blame SDF not to help at DEZ and they come, The SDF are artillery striked, so their mainplan of cutting ISIS in 2 at that side of the river has to be closed down even they had troops and supply for it.

          They even got blamed for taking oilfields and its almost impossible to come even near DEZ without.

          And I do remember some SyAF attacking SDF groundtroops with no warning was shot down at Tabqa.

          If you had read the earlier SF report on the Al Tanf bombing, you would have read that SAA forces were not bombed but the US dropped a few bombs hundreds of meters in fromt of a SAA columm and the SAA just ran, even evacuating a few borderposts (I think it was 198 to 202)

      It couldn’t. 6 years ago the Syrian goverment forces did not have T90’s. This tank instead has been recently taken out, and not by some Tow anti tank missile launcher, but by an aircraft launched depleted Uranium shell. The charred remains of the tank and the blown off turret are a clear evidence of this. The US has come into the fray and is directly giving air support to its ISIS front line terror group against the Syrian government forces.

        go back at commenting vogue articles, the A-10 cannon is a 30mm and shoots rounds able to destroy APC at most. Also if it that was the case, the terrain around would be all messed up.

          DU round can do that. Javelin missile relying on line of sight of it’s command units to acquire target for top attack. It can use fire and forget but those would need the missile to switch into IR guidance which easily dazzled by Sthora. If the missile also have inertia guidance then it is possible but javelins with inertia guidance probably the newer kinds and quite impossible to be possessed by ISIS.
          It isn’t impossible for an ambush to succeed in doing that but that would required a multiple ATGM team unless the tanks advancing without recon units and soldiers accompanying.
          Looking at the less damaged hull and blown turrets then it’s taken out most probably by hit from top detonating the ammunition storage.

          you think du ammo is magic. Better armor stops that. And this is T-72B3 not T-90. If ammo explodes, usually a tank is torn to pieces or turret flies off to manage the pressure.

    After a close examination of the photo, I would say that this is an Iranian Karar tank rather than the T90. One can clearly see that the cannon in the turret has a metal fodder on its front, much like on the Iranian Karar in adoption by the Iranian Republican guard.

    The era bricks do not look like t-90s, judging by how burnt out it is it looks far more like it was bombed or mined by IED. Even with it’s ammo rack being hit. That does not cause the turret to be burnt and smashed.

          it is t-72B3. T-90 is upgrade from T-72B. Turrets under ERA arent all too different. T-90 is a newer generation of the design. There are pictures of older T-72s with gun turn/broken off at gun mantlet, probably after airstrike. I remember one such from 2nd palmyra takeover. T-90 turret, what you normally see is the bricks. Similar ones are on the 72B3, but cheaper to make the obsolete mass tank battle worthy. if you cant tell difference in hull ERA … good luck.

            It is an T-90. Compare the chassis from the T-90 and T-72B3 you will find an difference in the layout of the heavy ERA bricks on the front. Yeah, the old T-90 is an overhauled T-72B, but the T-90A has an new armour package implemented.

            so you say it is 90, there is visual proof this is 72B3. T-90 and T-90A are also not the same. I compared hull chassis with B3 chassis and it matches. Nothing more to add.

      Turret flying off is caused by internal explosion. Maybe it got hit from the sides/back and ammo rack detonated, or maybe it was intentionaly demolished (so as not to fall into the hands of enemy). Maybe even ISIS demolished captured tank because it was not usefull to them for some reason.

    SAA and Allies should have to secure the road between Abu Kamal and Maadine first and join Tiger forces in Maadine then they should go across Euphrati river from Iraqi side and surround Abu Kamal.
