Iraqi Security Forces Liberate 2 Villages from ISIS near Mosul

The Iraqi Security Forces have libeated the villages of Hajj Ali and Khirbat Shammām, located to the South from the ISIS-controlled city of Mosul.

In the province of Nineveh, the city of Mosul has been an area of different military operatins since May when the Kurdish Peshmerga liberated 9 villages from ISIS, east to the strategic city.

On Monday, US Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter announced that American Apache helicopter gunships supported the recent advane of the Iraqi military near Mosul.

“Several Apaches were involved in the attack, but only one fired, striking a vehicle,” The Washington Post cites an anonymous source in the US defense official.
