Iraq Rearms Its Military With Russian Battle Tanks Because Most Of US-supplied Arbrams Were Lost, Damaged Or Destroyed

A screenshot from the video

More details have appeared on the recent delivery of 39 T-90C/SK main battle tanks (MBT) to Iraq from Russia. According to videos released by the Iraqi military, the 35th Brigade of the 9th Armoured Division of the Iraqi Armed Forces is now fully armed with T-90C main battle tanks.

The T-90C MBT is an export version of the Russian-T90A MBT. The T-90SK is a command and control version of the MBT. Servicemen and officers of the 35th Brigade passed the training to use T-90C/SK MBTs under a supervision of Russian specialists.

All the remaining US-made М1А1М Abrams MBTs were transfered from the 35th Brigade to the 34th Brigade of the 9th Armoured Division. According to experts, the 34th Brigade may now be the only formation of the Iraqi military armed with US-made М1А1М Abrams MBTs.

Previously, the Iraqi military received 152 М1А1 Abrams MBTs from the US. However, according to reports in Iraqi media and existing video and photo evidence, over a half of these battle tanks have been lost, destroyed or damaged during clashes with ISIS terrorists across the country.

Russia and Iraq made a contract on the delivery of T-90C/SK MBTs in 2017. The Russian battle tanks’ manufacturer Uralvagonzavod revealed in the same year that at least 46 T-90C/SK MBTs will be delivered to Iraq. However, this is only the first batch of the pre-agreed number.

While details and sum of the Russian-Iraqi contract is not revealed, it, according to Russian sources, can iclude “hundreds” of MBTs.

So much for the 911 inside job,and the fake WMDs,this is the start of a real blowback against the Zionist invaders. The Russian influence is growing by the day across the entire Middle East thanks to the utter stupidy and arrogance of the neocons, and their israhelli puppet masters.GOD bless the people of Iraq,Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, and others who have suffered cruelly at the hands of these Zionist Satanic monsters.

there is no satan in jewish religion :P

        There will be…

      • Patrick Jann

thats because they are satan :DD

      • Merijn

In Jewish texts, the devil is sometimes an Adversary and sometimes an embodiment of Evil.

In Hebrew, the term Satan is usually translated as “Opponent” or “Adversary,” and he is often understood to represent the Sinful impulse (in Hebrew, yetzer hara) or, more generally, the forces that prevents human beings from submitting to divine will. He is also sometimes regarded as a heavenly prosecutor or accuser, a view given expression in the Book of Job, where Satan encourages God to test his Servant….

There is Good & Bad (which both are to be found in the Human Species)… the Devil is an Opponent of Good…in my personal opinion

        • Wise Gandalf

This is similar to Ahriman and Saruman, pardon, Ahura Mazda dualism. Isnt´t it?

          • Merijn

Yup… and I consider myself to be fighting for the Good Side in this Cosmic Battle…Chop Up Evil Fuckers…Screw them Devil…hehehe

          • Ronald

Ahura Mazda the Lord of Truth and Wisdom; verses Angra Mainyu the Liar.
“Zarathustra am I, a true foe to the Liar, to the utmost of my power, but a powerful support I be to the Righteous”.

          • Merijn

Good Thought came to me, when the still mind taught me to declare what is best: “Let not a Man seek again and again to please the Liars, for they make all the Righteous their Enemies.”

          • Ronald

Ahh, so maybe you were Zarathustra a couple of hundred lifetimes ago !

          • Merijn

I think his Spirit spoke to me….and there is Honour in Truth…

          • Brother Ma

            Yep. Manichaenism.

This is just a question from a true Christian – is there a devil and is there hell ???

I certainly hope there is… so that Evildoers get what they deserve…

        • Brother Ma

I thought Israel or Jacob meant Opponent? As in fought the Angel.

          • Merijn

Yeah of Esau…. Jacob betrayed his brother..for Wealth & Power… and thus became Patriarch of the Israelites… which is Characteristic for the rest of the Treacherous History….Lying, Backstabbing & Cheating for personal profits… it almost seems as if it happened today…good thing to teach that kind of stories to your kids…will make sum fine Adults…

          • Brother Ma

Too true! Funny how those stupid american Evangelists who are pro-zionist never teach their children that story, isnt it?

        • horten

YETZER HARA AND YETZER TOV.. NOTHING MORE…

          • Merijn

I think it is Man’s own responsibility too….personal choices of going left or Right…

        • Davki

That is correct. Especially in later Jewish writings, Satan is a figure similar to what one finds in Christian writings; in the Jubilees, he’s called _mastema_, as in the texts from the Dead Sea (or Belial). He is very much there an antagonist of G-d. Yetzer tov and yetzer ra’ is a different matter. As even yetzer ra’ can be ‘good’. At anyway, our ‘Gandalf’ here doesn’t seem to be very wise after all.

      • Promitheas Apollonious

No? Ok humoring you, tell me what the god they believe in, is then. And have in mind that you speak to one who dont believe in any type of man made gods, after their own image so dont make this a religious talk. Just a pragmatic one.

Time to put all the MIC Contracts in the Shredder…..

      • FlorianGeyer

Russian equipment has always been better suited to real combat anyway and spends far less time in workshops.

        • Merijn

And if your Russian equipment doesn’t start you hit the engine with a hammer and of you go….

I know! Isnt it great! It is called Robustness and “ability to survive realworld conditions.”😂

          • FlorianGeyer

You will enjoy this then Merijn. A Russian tank destroyer was abandoned toward the end of WW2 in Russia and had sat there since then. A few years ago it was restarted after fuel checks etc. It is a fantastic example of rugged Russian equipment.

          • Merijn

Thanks for the understatement this is even better than slamming a hammer on an engine…..😂

          • FlorianGeyer

Its usually the starter motor that is tapped with a hammer if it stuck. Sometimes it works and sometimes not :)

          • FlorianGeyer

Yes I remember that. It was a Stalin Tank I think from 1945 ?

          • testera

Yep, IS came from Иосиф Сталин, and IS-3 was presented to the public on the streets of Berlin in 1945. It made everyone in the West shit their pants and start Cold War tank development.

        • You can call me Al

Not always – but now ……. want some, seems smashing stuff.

Keep an eye out, in the next week with the WC start …… even the UK TIMES has 3/4 pages (Front pages) of anti-Russian BS.

          PS The bstards never stop.

    • Rob

Its good that purchasing Russian weapons and said good bye to US weapons. This is another stroke to US companies. Iraq will receive these Russian weapons with TOT agreements to assemble some in Iraq.

    • Brother Ma

One wonders why the uS did not force them to buy Abrams again. Is it embarrassment or is it the US wants to see if the T90 is any good? Any answers? Russian influence is certainly growing and of course the stupid Yanquis did not predict that!

    • horten

      NAZI DRUM BEATER SCUM

  • northerntruthseeker .

The real fact is that the M1A1 Abrams is a massive hunk of junk.. Tremendously overweight and horribly powered by basically a jet engine that burns through fuel at an unmanageable rate.. The engine also fails and breaks down at a horrific rate.

It used to be that the old Soviet style battle tanks were inferior but the newest Russian designs are now superior to previous models and equal or superior to many American models.

    • as

In desert conditions. Hell even the nation pretend that don’t pay it’s military spending and R&D feel that using gas turbine engine were wasteful and unpractical. The reason it readily given it to Iraq in the first place because it’s have been obsolete in most combat it’s encountered after the Iraq invasion with IED in all kinds of form and deadly tandem shaped charge AT missiles available to their opponents. Another reason is because they’re sure Iraq that’s have most of it’s industrial facility destroyed after the war wouldn’t be able to afford it’s maintenance and repair. Hence their owned depot on the airport that generated another income.

    • jako

” jet engine that burns through fuel at an unmanageable rate”
Even bigger problem is that those engines are 100% inadequate for desert conditions that’s why “engine also fails and breaks down at a horrific rate.”
Because sand and desert heat are killers of those engines.
That’s why this Abrams used to burn like confetti when hit by missile in egines.

All Russian T-80 with similar (gas turbine) engines are on the far East (because they are good for cold weather and not good for heat or sand)

      • Bob

When Abrams was designed its creators envisioned huge Cold War tank battles across the mild to cold climates of the flat plain of central Europe, between, the then, West Germany and Soviet Union. Hence why Abrams has proved a service-queen when operated in middle east deserts.

        • FlorianGeyer

Parts of Russia get bloody hot in Summer as well though :)

          • horten

            IT SURE DOES…

        • Brother Ma

          Haha!

      • Brother Ma

Thank you for explaining. Good analysis and i learned something new.

    • FlorianGeyer

Many of the old Soviet era tanks even from the 50’s though are still in brutal combat conditions and doing what they were built to do.

In Soviet times the British used the Conqueror, Chieftan and Challenger 1. All of which were pretty useless even in training.
The best UK tank of the early post war era was the Centurion. It worked very well.

      • DenLilleAbe

Yes it did. I have even caught a ride in one back in the days.

  • Michael Morgan

Excellent news. Time to free Iraq from the yoke of the imperialists and oil thieves.

    • Promitheas Apollonious

      about time yes.

  • Rob

I think Iraq have no tank, fighter jets and helicopters repairing and overhauling workshops.

  • The article is not complete. Main reason for this deal was the cancelation of the Abrams maintenance and service contract, because some Abrams were given to shiit militias. Also the Abrams version for Iraq was an old export model with weak armor. That’s why so many of them got destroyed. it’s more like a big and heavy lighter than a battle tank. The US was just selling their crap to Iraq, that nobody else would have bought. The new government in Iraq seems to act more independently from the US.

    • Promitheas Apollonious

yes………….. now have you finish with the excuses why made in US it is simply overpriced lemons, good only against light armed civilians and shit in battle? Maybe if US was spending less in bribing and more in quality control and value, you would not have need to come with the excuses why. We also seen the famous never tested in battle german tanks how they did in battle so spare us, the explanation we see and we understand.

      • I think you did not really understand what I said. I wrote nothing about “excuses”. Regarding the Leopard II MBT, I presume you refer to the losses of 10 Turkish Leo II near Al-Bab, when fighting ISIS forces. There are two main reasons for this. First, it is a very old version of the Leo II without new armor. Second, it was poorly used by the Turkish army. They sent it to the front line without infantry support, so the enemy could attack it with ATGM from the sides and the rear. Check the photos of damaged Leo II and you will understand. The Leo II was designed to fight Russian tanks in open terrain, front to front. It is a poor tool in urban warfare.

        • Promitheas Apollonious

I have military photos of almost all the battles done in Iraq and Syria. I dont need the photos, from southfront or some other site, to know what I am talking about.

Same was with the russian tanks when they went under attack and been hit. Even older than the leopard and the abraams. They survived direct hits. I apologize if I understand wrong and you just been explaining why you think, it happen and not because of bad workmanship been the 90% of the cause as well cutting cost with recycled raw material for the armor..

And what I am saying is not speculation is knowing what I am talking about. You know that only 20-25% at best actually from the budgets in USA for military go for manufacturing the rest are bribes and cost of the over seas bases and running cost rather than build something is not a lemon and a make believe, of actually be as good as?

West believed that has won and get geared to always face defenseless civilians that had not the means to actually fight back, so the quality of everything they build ………… any way does not matter and is good they have been catch with their pants down and will get what is coming to them now.

        • as

Not ATGM as far as i can recall. Just plain shoulder fired HEAT missiles as it strolls into urban terrain from the side and rear. Turkish troops faced urban assault for the first time that their infantry receive enough shock to unable to brave it being the vanguards of their armored column.

          • Brother Ma

            Fuck them.

        • Brother Ma

How do you know? Are you in army? No im not being a smartass..just asking how you know so confidently.

        • Promitheas Apollonious

turks never fight isis. turks are the mother of isis as uk/usrael is their father. Get your facts straight.

      • FlorianGeyer

Even the US Sherman in WW2 was known as the ‘ Tommy Cooker ‘ by the Germans as it caught fire easily. In hot weather it was necessary to open the rear engine bay maintenance doors as it overheated easily and those open doors were a favourite target for German AT teams :)

      • Brother Ma

Which german tanks? Leopard?where were they destroyed ? Where they Turk tanks against kurds?

        • Promitheas Apollonious

          yes in afrin.

          • Brother Ma

            Thanks☺

    • as

Even under the USA care this particular equipment were very needy and inefficient. They still can’t make it lighter or up armoring it’s floors to resist IED blast. Note that the driver of this piece are lying low that he’ll definitely injured if not killed if it’s encounter mines or IED.

    • Bob

Bingo – the original US Abrams contracts to Iraq specified that General Dynamics staff would completely control the maintenance and parts for the program. In December 2107 all General Dynamics Abrams staff left Iraq and have not returned – the US subsequently announced it was suspending terms of the Iraqi-Abrams agreement – due to a Shia militia operating at least one tank against ISIS. The US political decision to pull-out has left over half the Iraqi fleet operationally useless, with that number only set to rise.

      • Thanks Bob, some more important details which I were missing in this article.

      • Brother Ma

Hmm? Now why would the US be upset that Iraq was using tanks againsts Isis whom the US says is their enemy and wants to destroy. What happened Uncle Sam? Scared the Iraqis might kill off your dogs before you realise your nefarious plains?

Also ,more blowback! US removed saddam only to see Iraq fall into Iranian hands .haha.

    • Joe Dirt

The Abram failed because the maintenance and service contract expired. In addition, the Iraq Army having no access to parts for repair nor the knowledge of how to repair them. Hence the reason for the replacement of the Abram. No surprise that Iraq when back to the familiarity of Russian hardware…

If you look into Iraq’s foreign policy, Iraq still has still has strong ties to US. To say “Iraq seems to act more independently from the US” is completely false.

      • Brother Ma

Typical yankui slyness. Tie the Iraqis to them . If i was in charge of a country i would never allow such monopolies. I would try as hard as i can to have tech transfer or at least have the ability to source spare parts from my own industry or other countries not friendly to the original supplier. Fuck suppliers having me by the balls. I am sick of that shit!

Remind me of loyal yugos not being able to fire weapons from france because ficken frog vassals of america switched the codes on them. So moslems chopped off heads of christians! So serbia now has its own arms industry! Bravo srpska!

  • jako

Maybe Iraq will work out arrangement for licensed production of these tanks in Iraq.
They used to produce Soviet tanks in the era of Saddam’s rule.

    • Hrky75

No they didn’t. They were all produced in Poland in late 1980s and supposed to be shipped to Iraq in knockdown kits to be assembled there. But the factory in Taji allegedly never managed to assemble one set, so every single Iraqi T-72M1 was completed in Poland.

      • jako

        Thank’s!
I was one of those victims, believing in that story (spread over the internet) that some tanks were produced in Iraq.
They even had the Iraqi NAME for that tank (which is ridiculous) if they didn’t even assembled them!
There is nothing wrong with assembled tanks as first step…
That’s how India has started with their T-90 “Bhishma”… first assembled and now they produce them completely in India.

        • Hrky75

Assad Babil – The Lion of Babylon. The thing is they had political will to start proper tank industry in 1980s and money to pay the East Germans to set it up. They lacked technical know how and enough educated engineers and technicians to make it work. In the end “The Lion” was made in Poland – so “Polish Pussy” would be it’s propper name – and Taji factory did some maintenance work until it was bombed by US in 1991. But I agree that any nation that takes it’s security seriously and especially in the ME needs to have a domestic arms production. Otherwise – and Iraq is the perfect example – your whole defense depends on the political will of your supplier/”ally” or indirectly on the whim of one of their much better customers/ally (read Israel). That’s why, for example, Iraq right now possesses zero medium/long range AD systems – so it wouldn’t interfere with IAF planned operations against Syria and Iran…

          • jako

Thanks for all info on, “Lion” turned to be “Polish Pussy” :-)

          • Brother Ma

            Thanks for the analysis. Bravo.

  • Smaug

The headline is a bit of an exaggeration but Iraq seams just as collectively inept with MBTs as the Turks.

    • Bob

Calling complete bullshit on your comment. The entire US supplied Iraqi Abrams program was structured and contracted to be
maintained and serviced under full US control by US contractor General
Dynamics. But under US state directives all GD maintenance staff left
Iraq around Christmas 2017, and have not returned, and GD have
subsequently withheld servicing and parts for all Iraqi Abrams tanks.
Around half of Iraq’s Abrams stocks are now out of full service and have
no imminent means of maintenance or repair – ie are now useless primarily due to a US state political decision.

Now, why all this US instigated drama? Because a Shia
militia, called Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, were reported operating an Abrams during 2017, during the heavy Iraqi offensives against ISIS held
areas. However, notably, the US were never previously concerned with ISIS
operating a number of captured Iraqi Abrams tanks, and the US-GD contract conditions
were certainly not impacted by those events.

      Basic reality – the Iraqi
Abrams fleet are currently deadwood, operational life is completely controlled by US state, and
the fleet is currently being politically held hostage to any further servicing or parts – so
basically they are useless to an independent minded Iraqi state. Hence, roll in
the deliveries of new batches of Russian sourced T-90C’s, that the Iraqi military
engineers can be trained to service and maintain themselves.

      • goingbrokes

The clearest signal yet that buying American hardware comes with a hidden price. A massive incentive to ditch American military products.

      • Brother Ma

So you are saying perfidious uncle sam is butthurt by the iraqis using american gear to kill off american -funded and trained head choppers ;iSIS? Right?
        Good analysis by the way.

    • FlorianGeyer

The US are crews are pretty useless as well. The best US crews managed to come second to last in this years NATO tank competitions :)

      • Brother Ma

Yes. Their navy is crap as well. Consistently beaten by its allies in wargames.
