Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, special aide to the president of the Islamic Parliament of Iran, said that the UAE had made a “big mistake” in normalizing relations with “the cancer of the region, the Zionist entity”.
In an interview with Al-Alam TV, the Iranian official stated the UAE “endangered its own security” by making this step. He also warned that the UAE will become a target of the Iranian retaliation to any Israeli actions coming from its territory.
“Since the UAE disclosed its normalization of its relations with the delusional Israeli entity, any apparent or hidden event that occurs at the hands of the Israeli intelligence services or their agents in the Islamic Republic or the region, the response that will come will not be directed at the Zionist entity only, but also, the UAE will be part of the response. ”
These comments came a few days after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the UAE and Israel could form an alliance against Iran.
“The UAE and Israel both recognise Iran as this great threat, so they have now found a way to build out a relationship which can build out a coalition to ultimately make sure that this threat never reaches American shores or harms anyone in the Middle East,” Pompeo told Fox News.
Tensions in the region do not seem to be de-escalating.
