This the Gotland class the Improved Kilo and the Lada class are the best non nuclear subs on the market.

Servet Köseoğlu

unit cost:900million usd…horizon class frigates €1.08 billion..yes,this sub must be beast…

Антон С
HiaNd

And which would that be?
US “upgraded’ Tomahawk cruise missile?
Hardly worth of building in as extra expense.
Excellent German torpedoes are plenty.
Only Russia has conventional “attack” subs I think.

Антон С

They could use french SCALP (there is submarine version for “Barracudas”). Korea (South) has their own cruise missiles for new submarines. Singapore can buy korean missiles and control systems.

HiaNd

Is it good…. SCALP? Subsonic I presume..

Servet Köseoğlu

deadly in its subsonic league..after launch it follows low altltude with the help of its perfect surface scanners..

HiaNd

OK all that no doubt in quality of electronics, but…how “low” ….a very “low” low?

Servet Köseoğlu

no info about that at open sources..and its range is complicated some says:250 km the other:350 km..

HiaNd

You know why I was asking ?
To compare it with the Russian Kalibr or Yakhont-Oniks (super sonic) and their sea skimming flight capabilities.
Already judging by the range french missile is not in the same league and with Yakhont in the speed as well.

Servet Köseoğlu

yakhont-oniks top predator a guarantee of Russian sovereignty at black sea..you are comparing ww golf and aston martin vdb11 v12

Servet Köseoğlu

ı dont think any ciws can find and destroy oniks…phalanx are not capable against oniks..

HiaNd

Sea Sparrow?…only if they get the signature on the radar of course.
But can’t do much against swarm of 6-7 missiles

Servet Köseoğlu

they cant react on time..impossible..

HiaNd

thanks!

Антон С

Forgot to mention, zionists have diesel subs with cruise missiles, variation of 214th project, “Dolphin” type, 16 torpedoes and 5 CM launched from torpedo tube. Need to separate land strike CM with anti-ship missiles. Japanese submarines can launch “Harpoons”, may be ASROC too, but not long-range CM.

Servet Köseoğlu

exactly and İsrael very good at minimalizing the objects which they could mount so many sistems to 90 m corvette saar 6comment image

Антон С

It’s german corvette. Look at project 21631 or 22800, both less 1000 tons, can sail through rivers. Modernization will make them 200-300 tons heavier, but they will have 16 (instead 8) shafts for “Caliber” missiles.

HiaNd

“Dolphin”class, ‘nuke capable’..nuke tipped missiles tech i possession of Israel(so much about “non proliferation” agreements between Russia and US…the capability trumpeted by Israel to spread the word to all the Arabs and specially Iran as warning.
From what I know they got those subs practically for free from Germany…or at least some of them.
And I have no doubt that they have even the latest “stealth” cruise missile tech fiom US in their own production.

Антон С

Looks like they are using the same old “Tomahawk”, because there is no other missile for submarines in the US. They can’t buy other strategic missiles due political reasons – no one will sell, may be except Korea and France with their NCM (1000 km range, further development of SCALP). SCALP is not strategic.

HiaNd

“SCALP is not strategic.”

I believe you that… if its range is only 250 – 350 km

Servet Köseoğlu

wrong..SCALP is not strategic for russia but for us at the hands of Greece it is strategic..

Антон С

It is. 250 km is the range of fire.
https://missilery.info/missile/scalp

So may be there were NCMs striking on Syria, not SCALPs, need to check, but lazy.)

big lebowski

The link shows a SCALP-EG, which is the aircraft launched version.

Subs carry the MdCN with a max. range of 1k to 1,4k km:
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missile_de_croisi%C3%A8re_naval

Антон С

“Wikipedia” is not for me. Read further, we have already discussed all possible variants and their parameters.

Антон С

All cruise missiles subsonic. SCALP has good electronic components. It wasn’t down by electronic countermeasures as “Tomahawks” 3 years ago in Syria. Few tens of “Tomahawks” got lost in a desert on their way to targets during two strikes. 1 or 2 such missiles been found later and delivered for research.

Servet Köseoğlu

brahmos is also classified as cruise-missiles but with its supersonic ramjet…

Антон С

Read carefully. Cruise missiles for land strikes. Anti-ship CMs is different class. SCALP is for land strikes.

Servet Köseoğlu

All cruise missiles thats why ı wrote…np

Антон С

My commentary was first, and I wrote about land strikes, read with attention, please.

Servet Köseoğlu

np interesting to read..

HiaNd

So what is Brahmos used for “land strikes”which is super sonic, Oniks tech (not subsonic) if not cruise missile?
I know all those stories when”new” Tomahawk’s have failed horribly in Syria.
There was even US latest “stealth” JSDAM or whatever similar stupid abbreviation it was, of their absurdly long names that they have now… that missile has failed as well

Антон С

It’s not strategic weapon as “Tomahawk” or land strike “Caliber”. Ant-ship version of “Caliber” can fly up to 300 km instead 2000 km for land strike CM, feel the difference. Further modernization of “Caliber” with over 4000 km range will be subsonic also. Faster speed means less radius. Turbojet engine can’t give very fast speed, but it’s very economical.

HiaNd

Yes I know all that but aren’t they going to have Yakhont on more than 300 km?
Specially those air launched (like Brahmos)
It is nuke tipped option capability so interesting as anti aircraft carrier weapon thus longer range would be great advantage.
If they can “Caliber” double range why not Yakhont?
Of course once becomes hyper sonic ( Brahmos 2 )range will go over 1000 km like Zircon.

Антон С

With probable 800 km range for “Yahont-M” it’s still anti-ship missile. And we are talking about ground strikes since I started this discussion with words about 218th project, which has no CM for ground attacks. 3,2 billion euro contract for 4 submarines, 800 million per one, it’s too much for the submarine without large cruise missiles. May be it has no missiles at all. Can’t find any information.

HiaNd

Thanks Anton

Servet Köseoğlu

these subs has’t designed for deep-strikes..launching hwt, acoustic decoy is their priority,aıp also supplies them not to be detected..invisible echo signals..this is an invisible frigate-destroyer killer and can be upgraded to anti-submarine by the countries who has the ability of confuse the torpedo by simulating the acoustic of platform.

Антон С

My point is simple – it’s overpriced. Such submarine should cost 2-3 times less.

Servet Köseoğlu

overpriced agree..

:))
Racist prick, caused me wet myself!

PZIVJ

I take it AIP submarines are a hybrid system. Using O2 and H2 tanks to power a fuel cell (extremely low noise), but still have a diesel motor and will use snorkels on occasion, so they have a decent range?

SnowCatzor

I always cringe when they call a ship “invincible”. It’d be pretty ironic if it were destroyed.

God

*cries in spanish*

Антон С

Why Singapore spends so much money for military? It’s useless, because the city has small resistance potential. One massive strike – and there is no port for subs, aerodrome for planes etc. The only reason is to add this potential to other (to australian for example or expeditionary corpus of another anglosaxonian state) in a case of aggression. Singapore can’t stand alone against others. These money (10 billion dollars per year) could be spent more useful.

HiaNd

They do it because US say so.
It is how they pay a US gangster for his “protection”.

Selbstdenker

You read the text? They buy the subs from GERMANY…

HiaNd

So?!
Tell me the name of US conventional sub model than?
It does NOT exist !!!

It has to be one of the NATO countries that’s only requirement !

Like you Germans don’t have clue that you are
members of the same gang?

After that comes US and tells Germany :
See?

We bring you all the time new good customers, what could be better than NATO?!
European defense is joke ! You would have to spend hundreds of billions to replace US logistics capabilities and nuke umbrella we provide and not to mention customers we bring to you!

Антон С

Partly true. Everyone should pay to the global gangster. Though they are spending a lot to research own projects. They can’t produce all parts, need to buy foreign ones and co-operate in research. Easier and cheaper is to buy a finished product in this case. It has the reason in the case of preparation to war, when you need to boost defense industry at any price. Australia does the same, their land forces and fleet soon will be at the same level England has, but without nuclear weapon. Who can invade Australia? But they are spending ~25 billions annually instead of paying their huge external debt – 1,7 trillion USD, it’s far over 100% of GDP. Indonesia, the closest big state, spends less 10 billion for military.

HiaNd

OK except I was talking only about the sale of the weapons to those outside of NATO or any kind of alliance with US.
Even without any formal military cooperation agreement with US they are forced into buying things from them. It is absurd that Singapore buys anything because too small to defend themselves and too strategic to be attacked by anybody at all.

But still all you say is true of course.

big lebowski

Subs are perfect for retaliatory strikes.

Who is going to launch a first strike on Singapore, if they know there are 6 subs somewhere under sea capable of launching back cruise missiles massively?

Антон С

What cruise missiles? This type of submarines has no cruise missiles.

<>

Israel should order 3 more from Germany, we need more subs.

Tommy Jensen

Everybody need these subs.

cechas vodobenikov

apparently a capable sub. it is sold to some other nations

Tommy Jensen

These subs dont have missiles with corona virus as we have.
