China has armed its Type 072-ii Yuting-class tank landing ship Haiyang Shan with an electromagnetic railgun. The warship is in service with the East Sea Fleet of the People’s Liberation Army Navy.

In January 2019, reports appeared that the Chinese military had successfully finished tests of “the world’s most powerful naval gun.” According to this very version, the weapon is set to be battlefield ready by 2025.

“Between 2015 and 2017, the weapon was calibrated to strike at extended ranges, increasing its lethality. By December 2017, the weapon was successfully mounted on a warship and began at-sea testing, a feat no other nation has accomplished. The Chinese are expected to complete at-sea testing by 2023,” CNBC claimed.

There have been no official reports on the capabilities of the weapon. However, it’s expected that the gun is capable of striking a target 124 miles away at speeds of up to 1.6 miles per second.

the question is not to build one, is actually hit with it, the target. And then is the practical aspect of powering it and make it mobile.

Railguns are useless in war they offer no real advantage over standard guns (APFSDS rounds go as fast and in some cases even faster then railgun rounds do) and are far inferior to any form of missile.
If they are this god like weapon the Russians and the US wold have had them for years now.
But the Russians did not even try to (since they are smart and realise how stupid of a idea it is) and the US edend up spending almost 1 billion dollars on their project and in the end canceled it.

you are correct, in what you saying, velocity and practicality ways. But then the americans looking for any excuse to screw the tax slaves they have at their disposal and so called allies of them so what is new?

One billion dollar is the unit when it comes to expenditure in US…. Even thinking of the concept leads to 1b dollar
