According to reports and photos appearing online, Turkish-backed militant groups continue to concentrate manpower and military equipment near the Syrian town of Manbij. MORE HERE

This development comes despite the deal between the Syrian Army and the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), which was reported earlier today. Under the deal, the YPG invited the Syrian Army to enter the area and said that it had withdrawn forces from there. My general armchair guess is that the grand scheme is to secure Turkey’s border by extending the buffer zone from Latakia all the way to the Iraqi border. BUT once past the Euphrates river, Turkish + Syria oppo forces will extend downwards towards the oil rich plains. The SAA can only do so much. Its up to the Kurds to consider their options.
