False rumors that the Balkan states were preparing to open their borders to allow the tens of thousands of migrants who have been stuck in Greece for years to travel on to Europe have led to days of skirmishes between Greek police and migrants near the country’s northern border.

According to Reuters and Al Jazeera, anti-riot police used tear gas and flares to try and force hundreds of migrants hoping to cross into North Macedonia to leave the area and return to their camps. Greek authorities even sent buses to bring some of the migrants back to their refugee camps, but the migrants refused to board and demanded to be let through.

The skirmishes have been going on for days, as thousands of migrants have pitched tents in an area near an official migrant camp and steadfastly refused to leave.

The first bouts of unrest flared up on Friday. At around midday on Saturday, riot police fired teargas at dozens of people, some of whom were carrying children. Meanwhile, migrants hurled stones and bottles at the police as they tried to break through the cordon. Some lit fires. On Sunday, hundreds of migrants remained in the area, though some had taken the Greek government’s offer to travel back via the buses. Hundreds have been camped out in a field outside the official migrant camp in Diavata, Greece.

The migrants insisted they didn’t want to fight with police – they just wanted to make it to Macedonia.

“We don’t want to fight with the Greek police,” said 36-year old Yaser, a Syrian refugee, sitting on a blanket with his baby son in his arms.

“We want to go to Europe, we don’t want to stay in Greece,” he told Reuters through an interpreter.

His 26-year old wife Fatemeh, who was carrying their six-month old baby, said the family was determined to stay at the makeshift camp.

“We will stay here until the borders open, we don’t have any other choice,” she said, standing close to where the clashes took place.

Workers with an international service tending to the needs of refugees blamed smugglers for the spreading the false rumors on Facebook:

Jana Frey, country director for the International Rescue Committee Greece, said the unrest highlighted “the amount of false information being presented to asylum seekers and refugees.”

“IRC staff have received reports of refugees who are being lured to the border by smugglers, who are feeding them lies about the border to Europe opening up,” she said.

Tens of thousands of refugees and migrants from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan have been stuck in Greece since the Balkan countries closed their borders in 2016.

Hey ZIONATO….You get a Little taste of your Own Medicine! You have Created Wars Everywhere together with Your AngloZioNazi-Buddies….including your BalkanizationProject…Now you pay the Price for it…Your ZioNazi-Populists will reap the spoils right?

    • Bob

Actually, core south central European states have themselves been subject to US-NATO war and regime change projects in last two decades – Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia have all been subject to either direct aggressive war, NATO interventions, and/ or massive foreign investment in ‘political opposition’ factions (often against overwhelming popular sentiment). These states carry absolutely no responsibility for any mass influx of illegal immigrants – resultant from central Asian and middle eastern US-NATO wars, and more precisely Merkel’s 2014 direct offer of mass asylum to any arrivals, in complete disregard of the 1990/ 2003 EU Dublin Regulation Act. Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia were not political participants in the EU Dublin Regulations, nor the 2014 subsequent complete unilateral disregard of the EU legislation by Merkel, and the ongoing endorsement of this position by the EU elites – let alone the US-NATO wars.

Yeah I meant Europe….they get what they Deserve…Create Wars & accept the consequences…

    • occupybacon

Indeed they pay because they didn’t throw enough napalm at them

        What do you mean?

  • Barba_Papa

Why are these migrants complaining? They are safe, right? They’re not in Syria, Iraq or Afghanistan, getting bombed and stuff. They have food, shelter, security, isn’t that what refugees want?

Ah, they want the good life in Western Europe at the expense of the West European taxpayer. Free housing, healthcare, welfare. All thanks to Mutti Merkel.

    • χρηστος

exactly…..they are lazy and totally worthless individuals…..they are just paracites for EU. only 20% come from Syria. mostly men running away from Russian bombs, war criminals that should be put on trial instead of feeding them…….the rest are people from Africa and the rest of the planet…..

“We want to go to Europe, we don’t want to stay in Greece,” he told Reuters through an interpreter.

Err, Greece is in Europe…Germany and Sweden are not ‘Europe’.

    • χρηστος

well they mean Germany and Sweden but cant say that so clearly……because there they will leave by wellfare benefits….have 10 children just for the benefits, live lazy lifes and if they get really bored take a car and kill some infidels…

  • χρηστος

paracites that are willing pawns of NPO to destabilize Europe.

    • Concrete Mike

Look at these people carefully and walk a mile in their shoes.

They may be pawns but i doubt their willing. Some perhaps , all? Certainly not!!

Most are being taken advantage of by criminals.

Cant we put these poor people to work ?

Like you have a glut of manpower. Instead of wasting your money on military matters that are irrelevant(f35), try massive infrastructure projects.

Lots of affordable good labour around. Hell even LaFarge would buy into that!!

      • χρηστος

your country is at war. you pack your things and take your family to safety….were?a refugee camp in a neighbouring country……NOT CROSSING HALF THE GLOBE TO REACH SWEDEN …..you not a refugee then….you are just lazy scam that plays the innocent boy aged 12 with beard and bald head 1.93 tall. less than 20% of people are from Syria…..the rest?all over the globe mainly AFrica ,Pakistan even Cuba and Thailand…. ….why are we (europe) are obliged to feed them ,treat them, pay them and give them work?there are many Europeans that are unemployed . who invited them to Europe?noone …..the almighty NPO to be exact…..so no sympathy for them just for the very little % that are in Turkey living in tents.

  • Domenic Patrone

How are these people getting their orders from the EU superstructure ? Stop visitors and confiscate cell phones. Maybe they’ll stop rioting. Food can be stopped for a period of a day and a half whenever a riot occurs. They’ll live. Amen.

What do all these refugees have in common?

Their homeland was destroyed by europe usa canada and the rest of the fascist pigs.

Them same fascist pigs are now telling us to fuck the migrants. I say for everyone that sponsored or supported these foreign interventions , they must sponsor a refugee family. It wont happen, but this would be a good place to start.

Its also quite ridiculous that the states thats caused so much chaos abroad.creating the refugees in the first place, are doing everything they can to phillibuster the peace process in the home countries. At the same time in the west, the anti immigrant sentiment is high, i think its being stoked by the nazis, as it benefits their agenda. So more divide and conquer by the usual suspects.

I feel sorry for the refugees, the situation our stupid leaders put them in.
