The Houthis have developed their large-scale military operation in the central Yemeni province of Ma’rib, which began earlier this week.
Houthi fighters advanced in the area of Haylan on July 4 and managed to capture several key positions from the Saudi-led coaction and its local proxies.
A short video released by the Yemeni group’s media wing shows dozens of coalition personnel fleeing their positions in Haylan as Houthi fighters target them with heavy machine guns, sniper rifles and rocket-propelled grenades.
The Houthis imposed control of several positions in Ma’rib, including the strategic area of al-Tabah al-Hamra, on July 3. The Yemeni group also targeted a Patriot air-defense system and a military camp in the province with suicide drones and a guided rocket.
Earlier this year, the Houthis launched a similar operation in the province of Dali’. Houthi fighters advanced in the province facing little real resistance, as we are seeing today in Ma’rib.
