Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham Launches Dozens Of Rockets At Hmeimim Airbase. Civilian Casualties Reported

Illustrative image

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) news network, iba’a, announced on May 2 that the terrorist group had launched a barrage of 35 rockets at the Russian Hmeimim airbase on the Syrian coast.

The terrorist group said the rocket attack was a response to the continues airstrikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) on the opposition-held areas in Idlib and its surroundings.

The terrorist group’s rockets didn’t reach Hmeimim as they landed inside the town of Bakhdarmou, few kilometers east of the airbase. At least one civilian was killed and four others were injured.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) responded to the attack by destroying a rocket launcher of HTS inside the demilitarized zone around Idlib. Russian warplanes also carried out airstrikes on the terrorist group’s positions in southern Idlib and northern Hama.

Earlier, the Russian military announced that it had repelled 12 attacks with rockets and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the Hmeimim airbase last month. The army confirmed that no material damage or casualties were caused.

This new attack on the Hmeimim airbase will likely further escalate the situation around Idlib, where the SAA is preparing to launch a large-scale military operation, according to pro-government sources.

It appears that US proxies are again being ordered to attack Russian bases.

Could this be due to the fiasco of US meddling in Ukraine and Venezuela in recent days ?

    • MikeH

Could also be an effort by some party to draw the Russians into attacking Idlib.

    • Dicksonrp

Possible…especially as they have been defeated in oth places by the Russians..Thanks Mr Putin.

  • Drinas

Incredible incompetence.. The truth be told, USAF would have leveled all these attack staging areas without remorse but Russia.. ah, diplomacy, let’s wait and.. pfff..

    • Wolfgang Wolf

yes, levelling civilians is all the USAF can do)

      • occupybacon

If there are civilians embedded with terrorists, that’s their fault

        • Dicksonrp

Then the zio terrorist jews embedded in the US, UK, France and Germany …justifies bombing all these countries….right

          • occupybacon

            bombing by who?

      • zman

Yes, it’s how the US saves people…by bombing them. Afterwards, when the civilians are dead, the US pronounces them to be free and democratic.

      • Real Anti-Racist Action

It is the People that breed the army and send them out.
Germany could have never been defeated without targeting the civilians.
The war on Japan was a war against the civilians.
Russia eliminated over 40,000,000 civilians in the 1920’s and 30’s alone.
No army works without support of the local civilian population.
in fact according to Evolution, their are no civilians. It is survival and elimination is the highest law of Evolution.
I ask you this… Is it possible to defeat Israel without harming a single civilian?
Was it possible for the Mongol conquest of Russia without killing a single Russian civilian?
Did Russia conquer Poland three times without targeting the Civilians?

        • João Leston

“Russia eliminated over 40,000,000 civilians in the 1920’s and 30’s alone” r u one drugs or something? If you said that it was involved in milions of deaths because of the II world war, and 2 wars before it, then yes, but the stalin purges were not that big. A 200 thousand figure is the more likely.

    • Tudor Miron

Really? They same way they were “leveling” ISIS before Russia stepped in or same way they do it in Afganistan? Don’t overestimate US military power. Yes, they are champions in terms of killing civilians, including using nuclear and chemical weapons to get more children and elders killed.

      • Drinas

No, the same way they were leveling Iraq, Libya’s forces etc. I am not siding with them, but I am simply stating that Russia’s soft approach is a joke and exposes it to more dangers.

    • Xoli Xoli

USA destroyed anything which hinder its evil goals whether its violation of sovereignty, airspace or taking over oil,gas or diamonds or gold. Not Russian soldiers but Putin delays thinking being friendly or making deals will cool down USA and puppets.

      • Drinas

Exactly that is what Putin does-and he is wrong as has been proven. It is not a matter of “cooling off”. The US sees this as a zer0-sum game. Either we maintain our hegemony (already undermined but not in the mind of US foreign policy establishment, Pentagon, politicians, media elites etc) and Russia backs to its corner obediently, or we lose this hegemony with no return and Russia (China, Iran..) triumph. No middle ground, no cooling off.. Against such an opponent you must not give an inch.

  • gustavo

Wonderful Russia-Turkey agreement for terrorists and Turkey. The only way to stop these terrorists attacks is with an offensive on Idlib, However, Russia does not want to bother Turkey terrorists and Turkey plans. At this moment at Idlib Russia is looking pritty bad from outside since it has the appearance that is Turkey which is controlling Russia on Idlib,

    • FlorianGeyer

You forget the difficult situation with Turkey, who was and still is supporting terror gangs in Idlib.

Russia is being patient whilst Turkey moves away from the US and NATO. This takes time.

There is nothing that NATO would like better than for Russia and Turkey to start shooting at each other.

      • You can call me Al

But Syria does not have time…this cannot go on.

        • Promitheas Apollonious

syria has nothing but time at this point. Not for ever time but enough that is needed.

        • FlorianGeyer

I agree that the de facto occupation of Idlib needs to end.
I am confident that it will, and when the political situation is right it will be done.

To go in on a broad front with guns blazing now would only create a situation that the US could and would exploit, in what is , a most complicated war.

On a positive note, I was gratified to see that the boy ‘Williamson’ has been removed as Defence Minister. I won a small bet that he was the ‘leaker’ when the leak was first announced, lol. He was essentially a Defence Minister with the actual skills of a Lance Corporal. It is ‘highly likely’ that he was exposed by a senior officer within the MOD.

          • Tudor Miron

Yeah, that little rat was too much even for ugly Theresa.

          • FlorianGeyer

Turkey has a problem in that it has a base in Qatar, and Qatar has, and may well still, sponsored terrorism in Syria.
Turkey is also dependent on Qatari loans.

          • You can call me Al

Regards – Gavin Williamson, he never sat well with me and I am very pleased he is out – now, will he spill the beans ?.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1f8UOWF4RY

          • FlorianGeyer

Gavin Williamson is in bed with the ‘Its Russia wot did it ‘ cabal. It is highly likely that he is an inmate of La La Land and has little real knowledge of history that was not written by victors.

He is a Guaido type of figure who was foist upon the UK MOD by those whose goals are’ self serving’ , rather than ‘serving the nation’ as a whole.

I would think that Williamson could ‘spill the beans’, but only IF he can tell the difference between a bean and broccoli.

          • You can call me Al

            Agreed. He’s a total tool.

          • FlorianGeyer

And not the sharpest tool in the box either, Al .

  • χρηστος

how are those attacks even possible?all terrorists are supposed to be in Idlib. how can they move rocket launchers so close to the airbase?maybe we are talking about small portable mortars and not rockets?but even so…..

    • Promitheas Apollonious

well 30km is not that close is it?

  • Dick Von Dast’Ard

The Al CIA Proxies are obviously starting to feel some real pressure brought down upon them now.

  • You can call me Al

Looks like HTS has it orders…..we are not far from all out war.

    • Promitheas Apollonious

it seems to go that way.

  • Fayez Chergui

what the hell syrian army is waiting to wipe out that cockroach islamic nest?

    • Promitheas Apollonious

you to lead them perhaps. Obviously you know better than they do as to when and how, so go give them your lights.

  • Tudor Miron

Rats want some more FAB500 – give it to them.

    • Jacob Wohl’s Nose

add to that some RBK-500 ZAB :) it’s always an option to toast some TFSA/nusra cockroaches with incendiary clusters

  • John Whitehot

“The terrorist group’s rockets didn’t reach Hmeimim as they landed inside the town of Bakhdarmou, few kilometers east of the airbase”

is this a new way to report rocket launches?

“Guaido forces in Venezuela launched rockets at the Russian base in Hmeynim, but they fell on the outskirts of Caracas and some people were hurt”.

Perhaps I was forgetting that the only ones who told that the rockets “targeted Hmeynim” are al-nusra themselves.

    • PZIVJ

Sounds like the Jihadist are not sure where things are on the map.
Or did not compensate for the slight sea breeze from the west. = CEP radius of 3km :D

No militia on earth fears Russia. The Taliban went head to head against the Soviet Empire with no fear.
Russia launched thousands of air bombardments against the Taliban with no effect.
Russian tank divisions useless against the people of Afghanistan.
Seems judging by this war that Russians have learned nothing.
Their is not a single militia in Syria that fears Russia at all.
Freely they bomb the same Russian base for 4 years. Russia always claims to bomb them back, but the militia laugh and laugh.
Oh Russia, you should not even use a single plane against these militia. You need to go on foot and confront them face to face like the Houthi do, or else just give up and go home back to Russia with your tail tucked between your legs like you did after your invasion of Afghanistan.
Russia and Israel have the same exact military plans. Air bomb your opponents into submission and avoid sending ground forces to do that actual work.
Russia is having as much success as Israel in 2006.

  • Alberto Garza

the russian air force response was pathetic they cant stop a group of terrorist launching rockets at their own airbase how can they hope to stop istaeli or the usa from destroying them ?

  • Jacob “Wraith” Wohl

If only the russkies had the Iron Dome, they’d be able to protect themselves from rockets
but since they only have crappy plastic Pantsir sa-22, they can only detect birds! LoL :)

    • Jacob Wohl’s Nose

lol you mean the iron dome that failed to detect and intercept 2 long range HOMEMADE palestinian rockets last month? poor Wohlstein, cry hard :)
Clearly the Third Reich missed out on reserving an oven for your Ukrainian ancestors

  • Xoli Xoli

USA and Turkey will used this terrorists if their failed to get what their want from Russia.Currently USA wants Russian action delayed for USA NATO to destabilize Venezuela.Russia release few calibre missiles in Idlib,Eufrate and Altanf then it will be game over.

  • Xoli Xoli

USA is going to used Turkey and SDF to safe their terrorists in Eufrate, Alntanf, Idlib Northern Syria. Therefore USA is going to use Turkey by handing over Northern Syria to turn matters worse between Russia,Syria, Iran,Hezbollah and Erdogan.During this chaose USA going to destabilize Latin America too steal gold, oil and natural resources. If it succeeds USA is going to force Saudi Arabia to keep prices low as possible to punished China,Russia and Iran plus allies.Sanction are in place to let destroy Russia and Iran and suppress oil trade.

  • Christina Moshe Friedman

Those freaks shall be eliminated, despite the risks for civilian casualties. The only solution for now it seems erasing Idlib from the face of Earth.
