On January 3, French police shot and killed a man who stabbed three people at a park in a Paris suburb, killing one. The attack happened around 2pm in Hautes-Bruyeres Park, in Villejuif. Initial reports speculated that the man was carrying some explosives. However, this was not confirmed officially.
French authorities see the incident as a terrorist attack.
The attacker was identified as Nathan S. born in 1997. According to police, he had mental health problems. He converted to Islam in 2018 and during the January 3 attack he shouted “Allahu Akbar.”
