Four Turkish-Backed Militants Killed In Syrian Pinpoint Strikes On Greater Idlib (Photos)

On November 18, four militants were killed when the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) shelled a position they were manning between the towns of al-Enkawi and al-Qahira in the al-Ghab Plains which are located in the southwestern part of the Greater Idlib region.

The army targeted the position with a number of Russian-made 2K25 Krasnopol laser-guided 155 mm artillery rounds as Russian drones were flying over.

All the slain militants, identified as Jamil Khalid al-Sharif, Ahmad Wahid Abu Sufa, Mahmoud Ali Mansour and Abdullah Khalid a-Jasim, were members of the Jaysh al-Nasr [the Army of Victory], a key faction of the Turkish-backed National Front for Liberation.

Just a day earlier, a sniper of the SAA killed a militant, Ahmad Abdul al-Hay al-Qarat, of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army on a frontline in the western Aleppo countryside in Greater Idlib.

The SAA intensified its strikes on Greater Idlib in the last few weeks in response to repeated violations of the ceasefire in the region by al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and its Turkish-backed allies.

Turkey, who is supposed to monitor and implement the ceasefire in Greater Idlib, is too busy expanding its military presence in the region. Ankara wants to stop any future ground operation by the SAA and its allies in order to maintain the status quo.

It won’t be any status quo, as long as entire Syria is noy liberated from all sorts of pathogens.
