On March 7, Syrian authorities reopened the M5 highway, which links the capital, Damascus, with the northern city of Aleppo.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the strategic highway is now, once again, open for civilian traffic. The agency released several photos showing civilian cars and buses moving on the highway in both directions.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) reopened the highway for the first time on February 14. However, Turkish-backed militants, many of them affiliated with al-Qaeda, managed to block the highway again on February 27 after capturing Saraqib city in southeast Idlib. The militants’ attack was directly supported by the Turkish Armed Forces.

The SAA and its allies, including the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, didn’t back down. On March 2, a large attack was launched. Saraqib city was liberated within a few hours.

The reopening of the M5 highway was the main objective of the army’s recent large-scale military operation in Greater Idlib. Turkey and its proxies, which made big efforts to keep the highway blocked, were utterly defeated.

This is what President Putin was working for: to demonstrate that restoring Order and Normal Life For The People ** is possible ** in this Deep State Ruled World. And this is how you do it. Restoring civilian services, rebuilding the infrastructure, reopening hospitals, schools. Making Life Liveable again. Making Syria the beautiful tourist destination it was before Israeli+US corruption made everything unlivable with Bibi’s and US’s roach terrorists infesting the place.

The terrorists in Idrib are answerable to no one but their weapons suppliers. Terrorists in control of Idrib means they run that town according to their wishes. Stealing, murder, rape, and looting of land will go unpunished. If they can’t admit defeat to Assad it means they are even worse than him its high time the people of Syria had peace. Those terrorists who want to keep on fighting Assad are silent against the USA which has occupied their oil fields and looting them while they are busy wedging a senseless war against one of their own.

The US/Israel, France, UK and Germany must hate this, seeing normal people lead a normal life in Syria. They must realise their plan for Greater Israel from the Nile to the Euphrates are failing. My guess is their desperation spells danger for us all as the next US president will likely stumble into a world war. They can’t seem to contain Russia and China, Iran is not a push over especially with Syria not going anywhere, they are losing Iraq, Erdogan can’t be trusted, Hezbollah is getting stronger by the day, what else is left? A major war

TRUMP will remain President … he will pull out of Syria completely after the election

  • Peter Jennings

Life is returning to normal in Syria and the many fake Islamic jihadist groups are fading into obscurity and irrelevance. The once mighty roar is now but a squeak.

The M4 is next. From that point Erdogan will need to consider arranging some accommodation for those terrorists who do not want to return home to Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan.

He could untilise Turkish resorts. It’s not as if he will need them this year.

Most vehicles are driving down the middle of the Road? What side do they drive on?

    • Barba_Papa

It’s the Middle East. If you’ve ever been there you’d see this kind of driving behavior everywhere. And I reckon its made worse by the possibility of IED’s hidden at the edge of the roads. So the center is probably the safest part to drive in that regard.

they drive on the right hand side

rail service is next … should resume in the next 30 days

Hey bro, do you have any information regarding the SAA’s offensive in the rest of Idlib? I’m not sure if they’re taking a short break for now or not, kind of like when they secured Aleppo. I myself would like to see more of the green turn red on the Idlib map. Considering that the terrorists weren’t part of the Russia-Turkey deal, Syria would have every right to get its revenge on the terrorists. Am I missing something?

The Turks are sand bagging. It’s unfortunate that their militarily is being misused at all. But to the extent that it is, it’s half hearted and feckless. And a lot of their terrorists who they’ve been paying and supplying for years are being killed, injured and deserted in the process.

The terrorist ranks in Idlib according to some reports have been decimated by 50% by the most recent Syrian government coalition offensive. They’re being pushed to the front lines as cannon fodder to die and be crippled for a losing cause.

    • RichardD

“Jihadist forces have also suffered major losses. In the last three months, their contingent has shrunk by more than half to around 12-13,000 fighters. Not all of the losses were the result of deaths and injuries; most militants simply ran off. The crucial point is that there are no reinforcements and the numbers keep falling. The terrorists have also lost some of their most experienced fighters and well-trained units. …

      • RichardD

    • Liberal guy

      May be in thousands????????

      • RichardD

Could easily be over 1,000. Many sought shelter around the Turk observation posts to avoid getting hit.
