On August 6, the Houthis (Ansar Allah) shared footage from a recent raid that targeted a post of the Saudi military on the Yemen border with the Kingdom’s southern province of Jizan.
Houthi fighters stormed the post, which is located to the east of the al-Defa’a hill, following heavy clashes with Saudi soldiers and Saudi-backed Yemeni fighters. The fighters took on the well-fortified post with nothing but their assault rifles and rocket-propelled grenades.
During the raid, several Saudi soldiers and Saudi-backed were killed. Their bodies can be seen in the footage released by the Houthis.
Earlier this year, the Houthis carried out a large-scale operation inside Jizan. The group’s fighters reached the outskirts of the town of al-Khobhd, more than 3 kilometers into the Saudi province. At least 80 personnel of the Saudi military, Sudanese military and Yemeni forces were killed or wounded.
Furthermore, the Houthis raided several positions of the Saudi-led coalition near the al-Dud Mount, which oversees a long strip of Jizan border.
The Houthis continue to operate along the Yemeni border with Saudi Arabia with much freedom. The Saudi-led coalition and its proxies have been attempting to push the Yemeni group’s fighters away from the border line for more than six years, to no avail.
