CNN Anchor Warns: ‘Illegal’ For You To Look At WikiLeaks

Originally appeared at Washington Examiner

WikiLeaks on Sunday called attention to remarks made by CNN anchor Chris Cuomo in which he appeared to warn viewers that it was “illegal” for those outside of the media to look at emails from Hillary Clinton‘s campaign chairman.

“Also interesting is, remember, it’s illegal to possess these stolen documents. It’s different for the media. So everything you learn about this, you’re learning from us,” Cuomo told viewers.

The broadcast aired on Wednesday, but began circulating more widely after being highlighted by WikiLeaks Sunday.

WikiLeaks has made more than 12,000 emails obtained from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta available on its website over the last week. Members of the public can easily browse the stash of documents using a search function provided by the site.

I stopped watching CNN. In fact, it was Chris Cuomo’s meltdown over Trump’s son’s Skittle tweet that was the last straw for me. It was very unprofessional. Emails are sent over the internet so how is it different than overhearing a conversation?

We don’t know how Podesta’s emails were poached. They might have been poached in transit rather than from his server, in which case it is quite legal. I remember how the Democrats cheered when a couple driving in a car intercepted a cellular phone conversation that Newt Gingrich was having.

    • I still watch CNN (actually I view their website – I haven’t watched TV in years.), The Raw Story, and 70 other websites from 12 countries across the political spectrum – it’s the only way to get the actual news (sifting the “wheat” from the “chaff”) and gauge sentiment. They ALL have their own agendas but anyone with a working knowledge of Anthropology and History can quickly figure it out. That doesn’t mean you have to have a degree, I know dozens of people who are self taught. It does take a lot of time (I’m retired now), but it’s well worth it. If you’ve got the time, search out news from as many sources as you can – if nothing else you’ll find out what the latest “spin” is and that may be news in itself!

I agree. I about cover about 7 or 8 news outlets now, going out to about 10 at times. All of them have a little different angle. My normal mode is to observe, filter and then let the story sit for a while and watch effects as time percolates things. Usually the truth begins to escape the propaganda envelope at some point and I can gain some respectable insight as to the direction of the goings on.

It should be illegal to listen to the CNN liar’s club. Journalism is most certainly not illegal much as the neocon barbarians wish it were.

  • It’s illegal to watch CNN.

CNN is referred to as Clinton News Network. Propaganda that Goebbels would be proud of!
