Clashes In Syria's Al-Safa: ISIS Cells Still Resist To Army Advance

FILE IMAGE

On August 27, clashes between the Syrian Army and ISIS cells continued in the area of al-Safa at the administrative border between Rif Dimashq and al-Suwayda provinces in southern Syria.

According to pro-government sources, an army unit destroyed at least one ISIS vehicle equipped with a machine gun near the settlement of Khirbet al-Hawi in the area of al-Safa. Firefights between government troops and ISIS members were also reproted near Abu Ghanem Hill in the same area.

At the same reports are appearing that the Syrian military is not going to limit its oepration against ISIS cells by al-Safa. When ISIS cells are defeated in the area, government forces may launch an operation to clear the remaining areas in the Homs-Deir Ezzor desert, which are still controlled by ISIS cells.

Isn’t it interesting, nothing from the Idlib front

    • Bill Wilson

They may be waiting for the Fall harvest to be brought in.

    • Barba_Papa

And most likely nothing will happen on the Idlib front until Russia and Turkey reach an agreement. Could something happen right now and Turkey not do anything about it? Of course. But since Russia wants to soak Turkey away from NATO, then they must thread carefully in that regard.

      • Bubba Junior

        Think your assesment is accurate.

      • gustavo

Turkey wants to keep this part of Syria land for itself (maybe some more). Now, what can Russia will do trying to have good face with Syria and Turkey at the same time, when Turkey is a enemy of Syria ? what a situation !

  • gustavo

It looks like that SAA is not doing well in this area, maybe there is a lack of good military tactic.

    • HardHawk

you confuse the preliminaries that marking now the strongholds of the enemy, with the main event.

      • Barba_Papa

Aye, sometimes you have to consolidate and regroup before pushing on. Or you’re going to do stupid things.

        • HardHawk

something like this yes and the enemies fortifications are very well done plus is all their power there with turkey behind them. They can only be attacked one way only.

    • Bill Wilson

It’s a tough place to fight since there’s no natural cover for AFV’s other than gullies and dirt berms.

      • gustavo

Yes, thanks. It is not the same to see the war from our computer comfortably than to be in the front an fight to this fanatical mercenaries.

    • John Whitehot

no, it looks like some medias are keen to made appear things like that, or some people are keen to see the SAA fail.

In fact, they;ve been doing that since the start, these people and medias will say that the SAA isn’t doing good even if 100% of the country is liberated.

  • svenne svensk

Its dessert. What not just surround the area and let the lack of water make the rest?.

    • Sinbad2

The Americans and Israelis keep them well supplied.

  • Assad must stay (gr8rambino)

hey daeshbags, you can only resist so much before you all die :))))))))))))

  • Ma_Laoshi

Will they even be able to stamp out this menace without chasing the orcs out of al-Tanf? Or is this going to be, as the Dutch call it, mopping the floor while the tap is still open?

  • Felix D (TUPPERWARE PARTY)

Alamo held out 13 days. Result will be the same.
