On October 3, at least three ballistic missiles struck the central Yemeni city of Ma’rib which is held by Saudi-backed forces.
According to Saleh al-Qutaibi, deputy director of the Media Center of the pro-Saudi wing of the Yemeni military, the missiles landed in residential areas. A mother and her two children were killed in the attack.
Some Yemeni sources claimed that Saghir Bin Azziz, commander of the Saudi-backed Joint Forces in Ma’irb, was killed in the attack. This is yet to be confirmed.

Al-Qutaibi and other pro-Saudi sources said that the missiles were launched by the Houthis (Ansar Allah) who have been leading an offensive to capture Ma’rib city and nearby oil fields for more than seven months now.
The Houthis have not claimed responsibility for the missile attack, yet. The Yemeni group does not announce all of its attacks.
This was the third such attack on Ma’rib in the last ten days. On September 23, al-Khashinah military camp, one of the main positions of Saudi-backed forces to the south of Ma’rib city, was targeted by a number of missiles. The attack destroyed most of the camp including large ammunition depots. On September 26, several missiles struck the center of Ma’rib city, killing five people and wounding 17 others.
The Houthis made significant gains to the south of Ma’rib city in the last few weeks. Saudi-backed forces defending the city may collapse soon.
