Casualties Reported After Attack On Syrian Troops Between Damascus & Daraa

On July 31, several soldiers of the Syrian Arab Army were killed or wounded in an attack near the administrative border between Damascus and Daraa, according to claims made by Syrian opposition news outlets.

The alleged attack took place on a road between the town of Arkis in the southern countryside of Damascus and the town of Dayr al-Adas in the northern countryside of Daraa. The soldiers were reportedly traveling on the road when an improvised explosive device ripped through their vehicle.

Just a day earlier, two officers of the Syrian Military Intelligence Directorate were allegedly killed when unidentified gunmen attacked a checkpoint they were manning near the town of Dayr Makir in the southern countryside of Damascus. The town is located near the administrative border of al-Quneitra governorate.

The Syrian Arab News Agency didn’t report any attacks in the countryside of Damascus on July 30 or 31. However, the state-run agency doesn’t always cover small-scale attacks in the rural parts of the capital.

Despite the tight grip of government forces, several terrorist groups, including ISIS and al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, are known to be present and active in the countryside of Damascus. The terrorist groups even managed to carry out attacks inside the capital on several occasions in the last few years.

As Washington took many parts of the world by thugism, similarly Washington will also take if not all but some parts of Syria by thugism.
