Germany may send up to 1,200 servicemen to enable the country’s Air Force take part in combat missions in Syria.
Germany is a member of the US-led coalition against ISIS. At the moment it in only providing logistical and technical assistance. But all could be changed soon:
“From the military point of view, to ensure the operation of aircraft we need about 1.200 military personnel,” Inspector General of the Bundeswehr Volker Wieker told the Bild am Sonntag newspaper in an interview.
Earlier this week, there were reports that Germany will send Tornado reconnaissance aircrafts to Syria to support the French activity against ISIS.
The debates in the German parliament on the possibility of the military operation in Syria are due to begin next week.
