At least 26 people, including a prominent journalist and several foreigners, were killed and 56 others were injured in an attack on the Asasey hotel in the port of Kismayo in southern Somalia. The incident lated from July 12 to July 13. Local forces needed over 12 hours to eliminate gunmen and restore control of the area.
The terrorist group Al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for the attack.
