On December 22, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) uncovered a large ammo depot during a search operation in a newly-liberated area in southern Syria, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

“An underground ammo depot was uncovered, it was equipped in a way that would insure the ammo will last for a long period,” a military source told SANA.

The ammo depot contained a Soviet-made Fagot anti-tank guided missile (ATGM), four US-made TOW ATGMs, a Soviet-made SA-7 man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS), a a Yugoslav-made M79 Osa anti-tank weapon, several mortar cannons, several heavy machine guns and loads of ammunition.

Most of these weapons were supplied with help from the U.S. to the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in southern Syria under a “train and equip” program which was authorized by former U.S. President Barack Obama in 2014. The program was halted by President Donald Trump in 2017. However, most of the weapons found its way to the black market or even to the hands of terrorist groups.

Hey – I could use some of that stuff. Anybody got a web store link and a promo code? I’m thinking the Zu-23 autocannon if the barrel is still good. It would be great for squirrel hunting.
