On July 12, Nawras Abdul Rahman Haredin, a former member of ISIS’ Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, was assassinated in northwest Daraa.
According to several opposition sources, unidentified attackers riding a motorcycle shot and killed Haredin in front of his metal workshop in the town of Tafas in the morning. The attackers were able to escape.
Haredin is a former member of ISIS’ Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, that used to occupy the Yarmouk basin in western Daraa. The terrorist group was neutralized in a joint attack by the Syrian Arab Army and former rebels that reconciled with the government. The attack was backed by the Russian Aerospace Forces.
Baladi News, a pro-opposition outlet, reported that Haredi was suspected of working for one of ISIS’ cells in Daraa’s countryside.
This was the second attack on suspected ISIS members in Daraa this week. Two days ago, Tahir al-Masri, prominent security commander of the terrorist group, was assassinated in eastern Daraa.
ISIS terrorists, who were behind some of the recent assassinations in Daraa, are apparently being hunted down. The Syrian intelligence and local fighters are likely responsible.
